Temelín Nuclear Power Plant Information Centre

This power plant is a controversial dominant of the whole region. Its Information center shows not only the safety of the complex but also reasons why nuclear power is so important for the Czech Republic where mountain rivers and strong winds are missing. At the same time, visitors get familiar with basic issues of nuclear energy.

Near the Temelín Nuclear Power Plant, 24 kilometers north of Česke Budějovice, five kilometers south of Týn nad Vltavou, the Renaissance castle Vysoký Hrádek is located, where the Temelín Nuclear Power Plant Information Center is situated. On the first floor for those interested, a large exposition on a subject nuclear energy, energy, and various options of acquiring energy is available. The second part of the exhibition is dedicated to the Temelín power plant, its surroundings, the functional arrangement, the most important devices, and the topics related to the operations of the power plant. The power plant has installed two blocks, each is reconstructed and has 1055 MW electric power. In 2016, the power plant produced approximately 12.10 TWh of electric power.

From České Budějovice, it is possible to get there by some coaches and also local bus lines going to Týn nad Vltavou or further.
